About me

Marisa Moureau has always had a unique approach to acting – finding life in the language and writing, and meaning in the silences between them. As a child, everyone was confident she would be a writer. She imagined vividly and unnervingly, and constantly wrote narratives and poems. But, it was all to play these words out to the invisible audience in the bathroom mirror. The words were the inhale, the performance was the exhale, and she needed both to breathe

British by birth, Marisa grew up between London and the US. As such, her sensibilities are influenced significantly by both cultures and she is inspired greatly by European and British artists. Her favorite filmmakers include the Dardenne Brothers, Yorgos Lanthimos, Sylvain Chomet, and Martin Rejtman. Her favorite playwrights include Alice Birch, David Harrower, and Naomi Wallace.

Marisa has been a lead actor in many short films and plays – both original and classic. Her own directorial and screenwriting debut, Food Through the Ages, is slated for 2026. She is currently in rehearsals for Dirty Books, an immersive theatre piece with Bated Breath Theatre Company in NYC. Tickets are available here.

Anyway, did you know I’ve been writing about myself in third person this whole time? Isn’t that a silly convention! By the way, I also have an award-winning YouTube channel where I’m Your Cool Uncle Marisa, and teach you how to repair and mod retro tech. My channel has often been praised for being reminiscent of old YouTube due to its sense of authenticity and casual connection with the viewer. Check it out if you’re into tech or video games.
